Christmas Concert At The Gulbenkian Theatre [19/12/09]
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just this minute got back... What a fantastic gig!!! I took loads of pictures (though found out during the break that they weren't allowed so I didn't take any in the second half..... honest!!!! ) I dare say by the time I've sorted through my pics half of them will have gone, but I do have over 300 on there (349 to be precise!) so if I don't get a decent number of good ones out of that lot then I think I'm going to cry!!! Oh, and I also found out I can actually write fairly legibly in the dark.... yes I actually remembered to write the set list down this time!!

Erm.... well out of 349 I have just 130 left!!! Well I did say a decent camera needs a decent photographer too!!!! Anyway, I'll resize these ones and get them up in the gallery in the morning.

Shame 'bout the loss of photos, Saara... But I'm sure once you get used to what setting works best at gigs etc, you'll end up with most if not all of your pictures I look forward to having a nosey at them & of course, reading your report

To be honest, Jess, I expected it. That's the reason I took so many. The "Sports" setting on the camera works just fine, the problem is me. I line the shot up easily enough, but I guess my reactions aren't quick enough so by the time I click the button the subject has moved!!!!!

A few selected pics.... The very talented Luke Jackson who opened the show. What an amazing voice, especially for a lad of his age - just 15!! One of my personal favourites! Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!! Slightly larger versions of these, plus a load more, can be found in the Gallery.

Oh YES!!! What a brilliant Christmassy gig!!! It was so memorable ...the set list so good...... I could probably reel off a list of songs off the top of my head (but they wouldn't be in the right order!!!) We have photos of the second half .....the rule was no FLASH photography and Jules had permission to video the whole gig so I'm sure she will put everyone in a Christmas mood once some of it is uploaded If you want a few from the second half for the gallery Saara just give us a shout! (Oh just seen you DID have pics from the second half too )

Sue wrote: If you want a few from the second half for the gallery Saara just give us a shout! (Oh just seen you DID have pics from the second half too ) Haha!! Shhhhh... I didn't... honest!! I'm a good girl who always does as she's told! The manager turned a blind eye providing flash wasn't used (what he doesn't see, kind of thing) but their policy is actually no photography at all as he came up and spoke to me about it. Said he gets his orders from "the people up stairs". So for any future gigs there, try and make sure you're not sat near any of the staff so they don't see you clicking away...... not that I would actively encourage any of you to break their rules of course!!!

Well considering Chris was using his 'BIG' camera and never got told off once.....it was a VERY blind eye!!!

Re: Christmas Concert At The Gulbenkian Theatre [19/12/09]
Perhaps they didn't notice because you and Chris were 'hidden' in the middle of a row and it was quite dark (I found that out whilst trying to write the songs down!!). Unfortunately for me, I was by the aisle and kind of gave the game away a couple of times as I altered the camera settings and didn't realise the flash had come back on! Anyway, on to the set list, which included a few we've not heard before... Santa Clause Is Coming To Town Downtown Train Nothing But The Truth Sympathy For The Devil (Rolling Stones) Wild World (Cat Stevens) Fade Away (Yay! Was so pleased to hear this in full finally!) Here I Go Again Emily Crazy - vocals by Luke Jackson (Gnarls Barkley) Picture Of You Foxy Lady She's Not There Freedom Stay With Me Tonight Hot Legs Maggie May Bring It On Home To Me Superstition Play That Funky Music Don't Wanna Miss A Thing The Encore: Merry Christmas (War Is Over) Rockin' Robin Merry Christmas Everybody (Slade)

Great photos Saara that camera is brilliant.......... Oh and as Sue said i spoke to the lovely people in charge of the theatre who let me record this gig.........so a big thank you to them.. I also spoke to Luke Jackson after the gig who gave me permission to upload "Crazy" that he sung with Ben and the band. I am sorry i haven't uploaded any of the recordings from last night have been doing christmas shopping ect with hubby.....Anyway the recordings have been uploaded onto the computer and now i have to split the scenes so i can upload them onto youtube......... Re: Christmas Concert At The Gulbenkian Theatre [19/12/09]
So glad that the gig wasn't spoiled by the weather. Lindsay, I feel so sorry for you, having to abandon your trip.
Thank you so much for posting the details and the photos. It must have been a such a brilliant and special night. I really wanted to go, but it wasn't to be.
Saara, you did so well to have so many photos worth keeping! I think gig photography is the hardest thing to do. - The low and variable lighting is hard enough but these musicians will insist on bobbing around! It can send the auto focus into a right flat spin but you seem to be coping with your new camera really well. I particularly love the smokey pictures.
Looking forward to the videos Jules. You are such a life saver!
