Ben has told us that his chosen charity is Demelza House, a children's residential hospice in Sittingbourne, Kent.
It is an 8-bedded hospice and provides respite, symptom control, end-of-life care and bereavement support. Over 300 life-limited children and their families benefit from a wide range of facilities that include a multi-sensory room, Soft Play, Jacuzzi, and The Inclusion Zone for young adults.
Ben will be actively supporting Demelza House and has asked that all monies raised by BenMillsOnline be donated to them.
You know how annoying those little tiddlers can be?.....the 5p coins that get stuck in the corner of your purse or disappear inside your pocket linings! Well now we can put them to good use by saving them all up and donating them to Demelza House.
"Ben's Bobs" (a 'Bob' was the term used for a Shilling, which later became 5 pence) will soon mount up if you put them aside every time you get them in your change, and when you are next at a Ben Gig bring them along and hand them over to one of our Staff Members. The money collected will be added to our Charity Fund and passed onto Demelza House.
Alternatively, you can take your stash of "Bobs" to your local bank or post office, change them up, and then send us a cheque made payable to Demelza House Children's Hospice. In this instance, please email the Webmaster for details of where to send your cheques to.
Team Mills is entering this year's Demelza Run which takes place at Leeds Castle on the 14th September.
There are two distances to choose from, 10km or 5km, and the entry fees are as follows:
Adult: £15.00 (£10.00 for affiliated club runners)
Child: £5.00 (up to 16 years)
Family of Four: £35.00 (2 adults & 2 children / 1 adult & 3 children)
Entry Fee Includes: Medal & Certificate, free parking, prizes for winners of 10km and 5km and a prize for the best corporate team.
